The recovery of PE films for agricultural use is done in a dedicate treatment plant where the first operation to be done is to reduce the volume of the film using two-shaft shredders. Once shred, the material is then processed by granulators, washing and drying machines and finally extruded and pelletized using the dedicated machines.
The input material is usually contaminated by silica based elements (earth or sand) or residuals of chemical products. This supposes a consequent high wear rate of the shredding and cutting elements mounted on the machines involved. In order to reduce this natural event, it is recommendable to consider to include pre-washing systems before the shredding step.
