Shredding of Metal Drums

The Shredding of Metal Drums

5% of incoming contact requests from our website come from countries on the southern shore of the Mediterranean.

It is therefore no surprise that, thanks to coordinated efforts between our French partner and their agent in Morocco, we have introduced a solution for shredding metal drums to the North African market.

We therefore proposed to the customer a 4-shaft shredder from the 4R 100 HP series, with a 1000 x 900 mm grinding chamber equipped with a mix of 2 and 3-hook 50 mm blades.

The configuration is completed by a screen holder with material selection grids at the output with holes of appropriate size.

The shredder has four independent blade-carrying shafts, each equipped with its own electric motor. This allows for very flexible shredding cycle management that can be adapted according to the material to be processed.

The two lower blade-carrying shafts shred the material, while the two upper shafts are for recirculation. The shafts are controlled in pairs.

Managing the work cycle with a PLC allows for the definition of different shredding programs, depending on the material to be processed, including the management of shaft reversals, which can be for single pairs or otherwise.

This flexibility proved very useful for the customer and allowed them to go beyond shredding metal drums.

This is because the shredder can also process plastic films and car tires, thus expanding the intended use of the machinery, to the customer’s satisfaction.
