Shredding of cardboard scraps from the paper industry
Assocarta, a member of the Paper and Graphics Federation, has estimated that paper and cardboard production in Italy in 2023 accounted for 1.9% of world production:

Furthermore, Assocarta estimated that in 2023, as much as 60% of the raw materials for the paper industry consisted of paper for recycling:

Paper and cardboard are certainly materials that lend themselves well to recycling as secondary raw materials. As can be deduced from the data, paper is the main raw material in the sector. Italy is the fourth largest European producer of paper and cardboard.
The Italian paper industry is an important and growing sector. Increased recycling and the use of sustainable raw materials are factors that will contribute to making this sector even more competitive and sustainable in the future.
The recycling of paper and cardboard takes place through several stages, ranging from collection, storage, and selection to shredding. This last stage of the process, better defined as shredding, is where industrial shredders come into play.
A concrete solution for paper and cardboard shredding
In the industrial production of paper and cardboard, processing scraps and waste are generated which, instead of being treated as disposable waste, can be recycled by the paper industry through the shredding of cardboard and paper scraps to then be reused as raw material.
Before being reused, the ground material undergoes a bleaching process and is reduced to a pulp with hot water. This is followed by refining until the cellulose pulp is separated to obtain the pulper, and finally, virgin cellulose is added, ensuring the waste has returned to being a raw material.
A practical case
For volumes that are not excessively high, a solution for the shredding of cardboard and paper scraps can come from the use of a 10 HP electrically driven 2-shaft shredder, which directly integrates a discharge conveyor. A loading hopper allows for the manual loading of cardboard scraps.
The shredder is placed on a support frame resting on pivoting wheels, so that the unit can be moved within the departments, placing it wherever it is most needed.
A single electrical panel manages the shredder and the conveyor in automatic mode, making the start of the shredding phase dependent on the operation of the conveyor.
As can be seen, the unit is very compact and space-saving, ideal for production lines where the production of cardboard scraps remains within certain limits.
