Our shredding solutions speak American
Our client is an American multinational in the plastics sector with facilities and production plants in 23 countries employing over 35,000 people.
The client’s need to improve the performance of the scrap material recovery process, which currently uses only a granulator, led SatrindTech to propose two identical lines that process PPE plastic material. One line will be dedicated to volumetric reduction of sprues, while the other will process waste from the extrusion line present in the plant.
The line engineering consists of three elements: an automatic tilting lifter, a K 8/25 twin-shaft shredder, and a conveyor belt positioned downstream of the shredder to transport the shredded material to the mill.
The process provides complete automation of the material loading and unloading process, with loading performed by introducing material bins into the tilting lifter, which will lift and introduce the material into the hopper. Once shredded inside the shredding chamber, the material is then transferred to the mill by means of the conveyor belt. The entire process cycle is managed by a control panel equipped with a Siemens PLC.
While this solution is among those already tested and established over the years of SatrindTech’s activity, its particularity lies in the fact that the main electrical panel governing the system was designed and uses components in compliance with UL 508 / NFPA 79 standards. In this regard, the electrical panel had to be entirely redesigned, compared to IEC standard panels, to use components that comply with UL standards, just as the on-board wiring had to meet similar requirements. Finally, all electrical cables had to be reviewed and replaced compared to standard European supplies.
Essentially, this regulation governs the supply of equipment and instructs on the technical characteristics that the machine(s) must have when manufactured for the United States. Where certification according to these regulations is a contractual requirement, SatrindTech and its Engineering department are able to satisfy even such complex requests.
