Modular 4-Shaft Industrial Shredders

SatrindTech arrives in Munich, Germany, for IFAT, the world’s largest trade fair for water, wastewater, waste, and raw materials management technologies.

What until a few years ago was an important stage but still reserved for industry professionals, today presents itself as a great opportunity to rethink the operation of infrastructures and their relationship with the environment. This year’s central themes will be: circular economy, secondary raw materials treatment, plastics management, and environmental technologies for sustainability.

What better occasion to present the latest innovations made by SatrindTech? From May 14 to 18, 2018, at the Munich trade fair, SatrindTech will exhibit the prototype of the new 4S series of industrial shredders. This is the new family of 4-shaft electric shredders that joins the already extensive range of products available to our partners.

Why should a product like an industrial shredder not allow the maximum possible customization? This is the question we sought to answer during the design phases of the new 4S series.

Industries such as recycling and infrastructure service machinery have only recently begun to understand and exploit the new trends of Industry 4.0 and the possibilities offered by the Internet of Things. For SatrindTech, all this represents a great opportunity. We have decided to incorporate the principles of these new trends into our products. The 4S series is the first example of this transformation, which starts from a different product design philosophy to arrive at a new flexible maintenance model.

The new 4S shredder is available in 12 versions to offer modular choices suitable for multiple industries and requirements. The various models are designed to process materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic, medical waste, wood, and post-consumer products in aluminum and plastic, packaging, and much more.

Our technology is aimed at all those applications where it is necessary to control the final volume of the processed material. The flexibility of the new SatrindTech line begins with different motorization options:

• 4S 30: 2 motors of 15 HP
• 4S 40: 2 motors of 20 HP
• 4S 50: 2 motors of 25 HP
• 4S 60: 2 motors of 30 HP

Each model will be available with three different capacity solutions for the shredding chamber:

1. 698×800 mm
2. 1044×800 mm
3. 1218×800 mm

Customization is achieved by adjusting the dimensions of the selection screen and the thickness of the blades to obtain the required material size.

At the machine management level, we have provided a management and control PLC, with components that, within an Industry 4.0 project, enable communication and control of the machine in line with the most advanced requirements of the Internet of Things.

Drawing on our experience and constant dialogue with partners and customers, the objective we set during the design and development phase was to facilitate and minimize maintenance time on the machine. The machine body, in fact, was conceived according to a modular model that can be assembled and reassembled through a series of modules. In a short time, and with few operations, it is possible to switch from the 4S7/30 model to the 4S12/60 model.

In addition to this ease of assembly, our designers have also introduced another innovation that accelerates the resumption of operations when replacing blade sets: worn components or those requiring sharpening can be removed from the chamber without disassembling the blades and replaced with others already equipped with new blades. The simplicity of this operation represents a major innovation as the 4S family is the first series of shredders on the market with this feature.
