A light metal shredder: our latest innovation
When our Milanese client requested a light metal shredder suitable for his laboratory and office, we did not immediately have a product in our catalog that could satisfy his request.
We normally provide products for typically industrial environments, but we did not have a shredder for laboratories and offices in our catalog, especially one powered by the standard mains voltage typical of these settings.
To meet this request, we put our Sales Engineering team to work. Starting from a 3 kW dual-shaft grinding body already in our price list, they completely redesigned the typical configuration of the truncated cone hopper, support frame, and electrical panel that usually characterizes industrial supplies.
The goal was to have a compact machine in which the shredder was completely protected, material loading and unloading took place in absolute safety, and with a more suitable design ideal for office operation.
The new DC/S series
A three-dimensional rendering was presented to the client in a short time: this is how the DC/S series of light metal shredders was born, featuring a 3 kW electric motor with 220 V single-phase direct starting. The electrical panel built into the machine is equipped with an inverter to convert the single-phase mains current into the three-phase current for the electric motor.
The grinding body is equipped with 12 mm thick 11-hook blades, and a programmable logic controller (PLC) automatically manages the shredding cycle.

The machinery is entirely enclosed and painted. Movement is facilitated by swivel casters. The office operator manages the starting and stopping of the shredder from a convenient and simple front control panel, featuring touch buttons and signaling LEDs.
Material loading and unloading take place in complete safety through two front compartments: loading is done via a door that, when opened, closes off and prevents access to the shredder blades, while unloading occurs through a door protected by a safety microswitch that interrupts the shredder’s operation, allowing the collection drawer for shredded material to be extracted and emptied.
The status of the shredder can be checked by opening a convenient hinged front door, while additional removable side panels allow access to the interior of the machine for major maintenance operations. Upon request, the structure can also be made of stainless steel.
Applications
The DC/S series of light metal shredders is also suitable for other uses where the operating environment and the materials to be treated require special requirements and the volume of waste is not typically industrial. For example: pharmaceutical and hospital laboratories for medical waste, environments for treating light electronic waste (WEEE) such as circuit boards or hard drives, or situations for recycling low volumes of plastic packaging and bottles.
From the offer to the client to delivery in less than three months: this demonstrates the responsiveness and inventiveness of SatrindTech, in line with our Vision to “continue offering customized solutions characterized by ever-increasing promptness and technical expertise”.
