The shredding of polyethylene pipes and coils
Plastic comes in a variety of polymers and different products, which leads to various methods for recovery, recycling, and reuse.
SatrindTech has recently introduced a shredder for polyethylene (PE) pipes and coils to the market through our partner (agent/distributor) in the Netherlands.
First, some data: the annual report “Plastics – the Facts 2018” published by PlasticEurope states that global plastic production in 2017 nearly reached 350 million tons, 18.5% of which was produced in Europe.
Accordingly, the demand in Europe for PE-MD and PE-HD polymers in 2017 was 12.3%: toys (PE-HD, PE-MD), milk bottles, shampoo bottles, pipes, and household items (PE-HD).
PlasticEurope also states that in 2016, for the first time, recycling surpassed landfilling, and of the 27.1 million tons of post-consumer plastic waste collected, 31.1% was recycled.
This outlines the market context.
For the shredding of polyethylene pipes and coils, we offered a 10 HP shredder, model F 410/480, equipped with a specially designed hopper and a support frame.

The hopper is equipped with an internal tubular guide to facilitate the blades’ grip on the material. A large loading drawer allows operators to work safely.
The management of the shredding cycle is handled by a PLC, which allows for better optimization of work and pause phases, as well as potential subsequent customization by the customer.
