Industrial Shredder Maintenance

Industrial Shredder Maintenance

Industrial shredder maintenance, as with all machinery in general, serves to keep the shredder in efficient and effective operating conditions, thereby extending its useful life.

Maintenance is divided into routine and extraordinary.

Routine maintenance interventions include a series of periodic inspections and interventions to be performed at established time intervals; other types of extraordinary interventions depend essentially on operating conditions and therefore on the degree of wear sustained by the shredder.

During normal shredder operation, it is important to check the oil level in the gearbox unit and in the front bearing housings through the specific level indicators, just as the areas between the grinding chamber baffles and the front flange, where the intermediate seals reside, must be periodically cleaned.

Finally, it is extremely important to check that the blades are always perfectly tightened, since otherwise they could interfere with each other and become damaged or break. However, for some of our new shredder series, this is no longer even necessary.

Regarding extraordinary maintenance, consider the condition of the blades. The blades deliver their best performance when their outer profile has a sharp, cutting edge.

With wear, it is natural for the machine’s productivity to decrease: it will therefore be necessary to resharpen the blades when their edges become rounded.
